ABOUT Kolkata style fish fry RECIPE

This fish fry is a very popular dish of Kolkata. In any non veg restaurant of Kolkata, you can get this preparation. Mainly made with Kolkata Bhetki fish (Asian sea bass) which has a heavenly taste, but one can use any white fish fillet like basa, salmon, mackerel etc.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. FOR MARINADE:
  2. Fish fillet 6 pieces (3" long)
  3. Ginger paste 2 tsp
  4. Garlic paste 1 1/2 tsp
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Black pepper 1 tsp
  7. Lemon juice 2 tsp
  8. Green chili paste 1/2 tsp
  9. FOR BATTER:
  10. Egg 1 large
  11. Cornflour 5 tbsp
  12. Black pepper 1/2 tsp
  13. Salt
  14. Water to make a thick batter
  15. FOR COATING:
  16. Bread crumbs around 1 1/2 cup
  17. Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Clean the fillets and marinade for one hour with all those marinade ingredients.
  2. Make a thick batter with batter ingredients.
  3. Batter should not be flowy.
  4. Heat oil in a pan.
  5. After one hr take out 1 fillet from marinade.
  6. Dip it in batter.
  7. Cover with bread crumb.
  8. Deep fry both side until golden brown.
  9. Serve hot with mustard sauce, onion and ketchup.
