ABOUT Multigrain Methi Thepla RECIPE

Theplas are most popular Gujarati breakfast or snack recipe. Mostly all Gujaratis love to carry them while traveling or for picnic. It stays fresh for 1 week.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 cup of wholewheat flour
  2. 1/4 cup of bajra/pearl millet flour
  3. 1/4 cup of Gram flour/Besan
  4. 3 tbsp of Jowa/Sorghum/millet flour
  5. 1 tsp of red chilli powder
  6. 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
  7. 1 tbsp of sesame seeds
  8. 1/4 cup of chopped fresh methi leaves
  9. 3 tbsp of yogurt
  10. 1 tbsp of oil
  11. Salt as per taste

Instructions

  1. Add wholewheat flour, bajra, Besan and jowar flour to the bowl
  2. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and sesame seeds to flour
  3. Add chopped Methi leaves and oil to it.
  4. Mix properly with tips of fingers
  5. Add yogurt and mix properly.
  6. Knead soft dough with help of water. Knead for 3 minutes, cover with lid and
  7. Divide the dough into equal portions
  8. Roll one portion with help of dry flour into thin round shape
  9. Heat Tava ( griddle ) on medium heat
  10. Add rolled thepla on it and cook each thepla using a little oil, till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides.
  11. Remove on absorbent paper
  12. Serve hot hot with yogurt, garlic chutney and pickle of your choice
