ABOUT Mexican Nachos with Salsa RECIPE

The ever popular Mexican fiesta, Nachos are everyone's favourite. Nachos are a Tex Mex dish from Northern Mexico. Originally this dish is composed of tortilla chips covered with cheese or cheese based sauce. There are many variations on this till date. These definitely make for a healthy snack alternative and hence homemade can be really hygienic too.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Maize flour (makki ka aata) 1 1/2 cups
  2. All purpose flour 3/4 th cup
  3. Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  4. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  5. turmeric a pinch
  6. Salt 1 tsp
  7. Cumin powder 1 tsp
  8. Carom seeds crushed 1/2 tsp
  9. oil 2 tbsp
  10. Water to knead a smooth dough 3/4 th cup
  11. Oil to fry 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Take a wide bowl and add all the ingredients to it.
  2. Using water as required, knead a smooth dough.
  3. Quantity of water depends upon the quality of the flours used. You might need more or less accordingly.
  4. Allow the dough to rest for 15 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into 7 to 8 equal sized balls.
  6. Roll each using a plastic sheet or a butterpaper if unable to do it on the board.
  7. Cut into big triangles.
  8. Prick them all over with a fork so that they doesn't puff up.
  9. Deep fry few at a time in batches of three to four or as required.
  10. These get fried very quickly, so keep an eye on them and keep turning them for even cooking.
  11. Keep the triangles a little big for the toppings to be used.
  12. Serve these crunchy homemade Nachos with Salsa.
