ABOUT Tricolour healthy crackers RECIPE

These attractive crackers use oats and wwf and are coloured using carrot and spinach puree. It's a snack packed with nutrients to make every bite healthy.These wholemeal crackers are fantastic topped with cheese or dipped in hummus.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Whole wheat flour- 3/4 cup
  2. Oat flour(i used powdered quaker oats)- 1/4 cup
  3. Ground cashew 5
  4. Seseme seeds ground - 1 tablespoon
  5. Softened butter-4-5 tablespooon
  6. Water- 3-4 tablespoon
  7. salt- 1 1/2 teaspoon
  8. Baking powder- 1/2 teaspoon
  9. Red chilly powder- 1/4 teaspoon
  10. Garam masala- 1/2 teaspoon
  11. Ajwain- 1/2 teaspoon
  12. For orange color, grated carrots- about 1/4 cup
  13. For green color, pureed spinach- about 3 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Puree a handful of spinach and finely grind a carrot. Keep them aside
  2. In a mixing bowl, mix all ingredients for basic dough(flours,butter,water,salt, seasonings). It does not contain enough water to form a kneadable dough
  3. Divide into 3 smaller balls, add spinach puree to one and carrots to the other. Knead lightly with hand to make a dough, adding water if necessary.
  4. Powder cashews and sesame seeds in a spice grinder and mix with 3rd part of basic dough (made above).Add extra butter as required to make dough.This makes white dough for the middle
  5. Use 2 sheets of parchment paper to roll out each dough into a thin layer. Cut out long strips of equal width with a knife
  6. Place a strip of each color touching each other and gently bind with fingers at the edges. Cut out squares and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Prick holes with a fork
  7. Bake at 180 deg centigrade in a preheated oven for 20-22 minutes
  8. Once done, place on wire rack for cooling. It'll be soft when hot and will firm upon cooling. Store in an airtight container.
