ABOUT Kosha Mangsho RECIPE

This is a sunday special curry in most bengali and oriya homes, a mutton curry made with spices to be served with just some steamed rice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Mutton 1/2 kg
  2. Curd 100gms
  3. Onion paste 1 cup
  4. Garlic paste 4 tblspn
  5. Ginger paste 1 tblspn
  6. Haldi 2 tspn
  7. Jeera powder 2 tspn
  8. Sugar 3 tspn
  9. Chillies 3 pcs
  10. salt as per taste
  11. Garam masala powder 1 tspn
  12. Bay leaves 2 pcs
  13. Oil 3 tblspn

Instructions

  1. Marinate mutton with all spices except sugar and bay leaves
  2. Keep aside for 20 mins
  3. Heat oil in pressure cooker
  4. Add sugar and bay leaves
  5. As the sugar turns brown, add marinated mutton and cook in high flame, turning occasionally
  6. Keep on low flame and cook stirring till oil starts leaving and masala turns brown
  7. Add 3 medium sized cups water and bring the curry to boil
  8. Close lid and let 2 whistles in high flame n 2 in low flame
  9. Turn off the flame and transfer to a serving bowl after the pressure settles.
