ABOUT Honey Boondi Mawa Modak RECIPE

These modaks are sugar coated gram flour balls and that too when stuffed with mawa honey mixture gives a unique taste to it. It is a total festive treat for all.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Gram flour 2 cup
  2. Sugar 3 cup
  3. water 3 cup
  4. Cardamom powder 1tsp
  5. Pista, chopped 1tsp
  6. Cashew, chopped 1tsp
  7. Mawa 200gm
  8. Saffron, 1/2 tsp
  9. Honey 4tsp or to taste
  10. Lemon juice few drops
  11. Oil 1tsp + for frying

Instructions

  1. Take gram flour in a bowl and by adding water prepare a batter which is not too thick.
  2. Add 1 drop of oil into it and mix well.
  3. Beat it continuously to prepare a fluffy batter.
  4. Take a pan and add oil to it for frying and let it be hot then slower the flame.
  5. Now take a steel rice strainer and hold it on top of the pan which has oil for frying.
  6. Now with a service spoon pour some amount of batter on it and tap so that drops of batter fall into the oil through that.
  7. Fry and cook the Boondi from the whole batter
  8. Put another pan on gas and add water and sugar and let it cook in order to prepare sugar syrup.
  9. Add cardamom powder, saffron and few drops of lemon juice into it and let it cook until one string consistency.
  10. Now add the boondis into prepared sugar syrup and keep for 10-15 minutes.
  11. Meanwhile take mawa and mix in honey into it.
  12. Add Pista and cashews into it and mix well.
  13. Now take boondis into your hand, put them together and flatten a bit.
  14. Now put the mawa honey stuffing into it and form the complete modak.
  15. Repeat for leftover boondis.
  16. Your delicious honey boondi modaks are ready.
