ABOUT Chinese corn salt and pepper RECIPE

A Crunchy & flavour rich starter that fits perfectly into an oriental menu. This recipe is quite easy to make just the coating should be perfect.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Sweet corn 2 cup
  2. Cornflour 1. 5 tbsp
  3. Rice flour 1.5 tbsp
  4. Green chillies
  5. Chopped Onions 2 tbsp
  6. Chopped bell peppers 2 tbsp
  7. Soya sauce 1 tsp
  8. Vinegar 1 tsp
  9. Black peppercorns 1/2 tbsp
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Ajinomoto (optional)
  12. Fresh coriander leaves
  13. oil to fry

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the peppercorns in a wok, grind them coarsely & keep aside.
  2. Take a bowl put sweet corns, spread Cornflour, rice flour and sprinkle some drops of water. (note : sweet corn should be coated well)
  3. Heat enough oil to deep fry the coated corns. Now put a hand full of coated corns in it.
  4. Stir once it starts crackling then cover the pan partially as the corn may splutter and hit your face or body.
  5. When the corn become crisp it starts floating on the pan.
  6. When done remove from the pan and drain on a paper napkin to absorb the excess oil.
  7. Repeat the process with the remaining corns.
  8. To temper - heat a tsp of oil in a pan add chopped onions, green chillies, bell pepper stir for 1-2 mins.
  9. Now add vinegar, soya sauce, grinded peppercorns, salt, ajinomoto (optional, if you are making for an party purpose then must add for better flavor), fresh coriander and mix.
  10. Add fried corns and toss.
  11. Serve immediately and enjoy.
