Masoor dal r bora r jhal is an authentic Bengali dish. If some day you feel that you don't want to eat vegetables, at the same time you want to eat something tasty and healthy then you can prepare this dish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For fritters
  2. Masoor dal -1 cup, soaked in water for 3 hours
  3. Garlic- 4 to 5 pieces
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Mustard oil for frying the fritters
  6. FOR CURRY
  7. Kala jeera or nigella seeds- 1 teaspoon
  8. Mustard paste- 2 teaspoon
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Green chilli- 3 to 4

Instructions

  1. Make a smooth thick paste of soaked masoor dal using a grinder. Do nat add too much water while grinding. Naw add garlic salt and 2 green chilli to the dal paste.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and drop one one spoon batter to make fritters. Deep fry them and take them out and keep aside.
  3. In the same oil add kala jeera and remaining chillis. Now add the mustard paste and 1/2 cup water. Bring it to boil.
  4. Add the ready bora or fritters into the mustard sauce. Add salt as per taste.
  5. When the curry gets thicker switch off the flame and serve with steam rice.
