ABOUT Vada (Gaarelu) RECIPE

Vada is an South Indian famous healthy breakfast/snack recipe. These vadas will be liked by everyone including kids & adults. It tastes yummy when seeved with Ginger chutney.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Split & skinned lentils(Urad dal). : 1 & 1/2 Glass.
  2. Salt. : 1 spoon.
  3. Oil. : Required for deep frying.
  4. Cumin seeds (jeera). : 1 spoon.
  5. Green chillies-Ginger paste(coarsely pasted). : 1 spoon.

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Firstly, soak black lentils (urad dal) with sufficient water overnight.
  2. Now drain out the excess water. Grind this dal with a little amount of water in a mixie to get a smooth coarsely batter. The batter consistency should not be too thick and too thin.
  3. Heat a kadhai with required quantity of oil used for deep frying in it on a medium flame.
  4. When the oil gets hot, rub your hands with a little water and take a small amount of batter and make a small sized ring shape with a hole in its middle.
  5. Slowly put this ring shaped batter into kadhai and stir it occasionally with the help of laddle. Continue this process until the batter is completed. You can fry more than five vadas at a time.
  6. Now remove the vadas from the kadhai when they turns into golden brown into a plate . Drain out the excess oil with an absorbent paper. Serve these vadas with Ginger chutney or Idly chutney.
