ABOUT Makhane in onion gravy RECIPE

A spicy and delicious onion curry to be served with some pulao or some hot chapathi.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Onions medium size 4
  2. tomatoes medium size 2
  3. ginger garlic paste 1 spoon
  4. red chilli powder 1 spoon
  5. Haldi [turmeric powder] 1 tsp
  6. Coriander & cumin powder [dhaniya and zeera] 1 tbsp
  7. Garam masala 1 tsp
  8. green chillies slit 2 nos
  9. Salt to taste.
  10. 1 large Potato cubed
  11. few makhane ( 12 to 15 nos)
  12. oil 5 tbsp or a big laddle full
  13. Coriander leaves to garnish
  14. garam masala to garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a pressure cooker pan with about 5 tbsp of oil.
  2. Add chopped onions and saute until golden brown.
  3. Now add the powdered spices.
  4. Add in tomatoes.
  5. Stir and add 1/2 cup water.
  6. Pressure cook for 1 whistle.
  7. Open the lid after the pressure is released and grind with hand mixer.
  8. Add the potatoes and the makhane.
  9. Add slit green chillies and garam masala
  10. Cook on high flame till oil is released and the aroma spreads in whole house.
  11. Add 1 and 1/2 cup water , pressure cook for 1 whistle.
  12. Serve hot with plain rice.
