ABOUT Arhar Or Tuar Daal RECIPE

Simple yet delicious arhal daal to eat with rice and daal bati.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Arhar daal - 150 gram
  2. Ghee - 4 tsp
  3. Garlic cloves - 4
  4. Zeera- 1 tsp
  5. Rai - 1 tsp
  6. Tez patta - 2
  7. Heeng -1/2 tsp
  8. Grated ginger- 2 tsp
  9. Green chilies - 4, chopped
  10. Tomatoes - 3 chopped
  11. Turmeric Powder- 1 tsp
  12. Dhaniya powder - 2 tsp
  13. Red chilli powder - 2 tsp
  14. Tamarind paste - 2 tsp
  15. Coriander leaves for garnishing
  16. Salt as required

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak the daal for half an hour, in a pressure cooker add daal, salt, 4 cloves of garlic and half tsp turmeric powder. Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  2. In another pan, add zeera, rai, heeng and tez patta, fry for 1 minute then add dhaniya powder and half tsp turmeric powder, fry for 10 seconds and then add grated ginger and chopped green chilies, fry for 1 minute.
  3. Add tomatoes salt,tamarind paste and red chillies cook till ghee separates. Pour this tempering into the daal and mix well.
  4. Arhar daaal is ready to serve. Garnish with coriander leaves before serving.
