ABOUT Arsi Vattal / Kondatam RECIPE

Arsi Vattal is type of chakli which is made using rice and is dried and fried later. They can be used as snack or as a side dish with rice.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 2 Cups - Raw rice soaked in water for 2 hours
  2. 1/2 Cup - water for grinding
  3. 6 Cups - water
  4. 1 tsp - Chili powder
  5. 1/4 tsp - Asatafodia
  6. 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  7. 1 tsp - Cumin seeds
  8. Salt according to taste
  9. Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Grind the soaked rice with half cup water and leave it in kitchen counter for one whole day to ferment. After one day batter will look like this.
  2. Add double the amount of water, salt, turmeric powder, chili powder, asatefodia powder and cumin seeds.
  3. Cook the batter till it becomes mushy. Now with help sevai maker squeeze the mixture out in a large plate and let it dry for 1-2 days.
  4. After drying store in airtight container and deep fry in oil as and when needed.
