ABOUT Socca Bread (Farinata) RECIPE

An Indian spiced flatbread, gluten free and vegan bread or can say pancake made of chickpea flour and some spices... In France, it is known as socca bread and in Italy as Farinata.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup chickpea/ gram flour (Besan)
  2. 1 Cup water
  3. 1/2 onion, chopped
  4. 3 tbsp olive oil
  5. 1/2 Tsp Salt
  6. 1/4 Tsp pepper
  7. 1/4 Tsp Turmeric
  8. 2 tbsp minced cilantro

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the gram flour, water, 1tbsp olive oil, salt and turmeric.
  2. Pour 1 tablespoon olive oil in a pan and swirl to coat the pan. Pour the batter into the pan.
  3. Preheat the oven or electric tandoor for 5 minutes adjusting both heating rods on. Now place the pan in tandoor.
  4. Bake it until the top and edges are starting to blacken. Carefully transfer the flatbread to a cutting board, cut into wedges, garnish with cilantro and serve.
  5. Ready socca bread.
