ABOUT Chickpea Coconut Curry RECIPE

Chickpea curry is made up of boiled chickpeas soaked in a tamarind and coconut flavored curry.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Oil 2 tablespoons
  2. Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  3. Urad dal 1 teaspoon
  4. Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  5. Curry leaves 1 string
  6. Onion 1/2 cup chopped
  7. Tomato 1/2 cup chopped
  8. Garlic 6 cloves
  9. Tamarind pulp 2 tablespoons
  10. Water 1 cup
  11. Boiled chicpeas 1 cup
  12. Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
  13. Red chili powder 2 teaspoons
  14. Coriander powder 2 teaspoons
  15. Shredded coconut 2 tablespoons
  16. Poppy seeds 2 teaspoons
  17. Salt 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Boil the Chickpeas.
  2. Take a wide pan, add oil, mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds and curry leaves
  3. Next add the garlic cloves, onion and tomato and saute it for 2 minutes
  4. Now add the spice powder one by one, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder
  5. Mix the tamarind pulp with water and add it to the curry and cook till the raw flavor is gone
  6. Now add the boiled chickpeas and required salt
  7. Allow the curry to cook it for 5 minutes
  8. In a mixer, blend the coconut and poppy seeds with little water and make a paste
  9. Add the paste to the curry and let it cook 2 minutes
  10. Now the chickpea tamarind and coconut base curry is ready to be served. You can serve this curry with white rice, naan, roti, etc.,
