ABOUT Mango Dal Tadka RECIPE

Spicy, little sweet and tangy taste of raw mangoes, can be served with rice, Baati and Pulka as well.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 small sized raw mango
  2. 1 cup boiled Toor daal
  3. 1 tbsp crushed jaggery
  4. 1 onion finely chopped
  5. 1 tsp ginger chilly paste
  6. 1 tsp garlic paste
  7. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  8. 1 tsp onion seeds
  9. 1 tsp fennel seeds
  10. Pinch of asafoetida
  11. 2 tsp red chilly powder
  12. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  13. 1 tsp garam masala
  14. 1 tbsp oil
  15. Salt to taste
  16. For tempering:-
  17. 1 Tej Patta
  18. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  19. 1 or 2 dry red chillies (whole)
  20. 2 tbsp Oil
  21. Coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Cut the raw mango into pieces
  2. Take 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, onion seeds,fennel seeds
  3. Now add asafoetida, onions,ginger garlic paste and green chilly paste ,saute for 1 or 2 minute
  4. Add raw mangoes cook with a lid for 1 or 2 minute
  5. When mangoes become little soft add crushed jaggery and cook for another 1 minute with lid.
  6. Add red chilly powder, turmeric powder salt, and garam masala.
  7. Now open the lid, add boiled daal in it.
  8. Mix well add some water if needed.
  9. Let it come to a boil and switch off the flame.
  10. Now in an another pan add 2 tbsp of oil and add mustard seeds to crackle and then whole dry red chilly, and Patta
  11. Pour the temper on dal and sprinkle coriander leaves.
  12. Serve hot with rice, baati and fulka
