ABOUT Pita pockets with no fry Falafel and Tzatziki Sauce RECIPE

The falafel have been made with a twist in this recipe . This is a perfect food for summers, light and refreshing with all the veggies and cool yogurt sauce. A hit dish with both kids and adults... Supertasty!!!!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. :red_circle:For the Tzatziki Sauce:red_circle:
  2. Greek Yogurt or Hung curd - 1 cup.
  3. Minced garlic -1/2 teaspoon .
  4. Chopped dill - 1 tablespoon.
  5. Lemon juice - 1/ 2 teaspoon.
  6. Grated cucumber -1/4 cup
  7. Salt- 1/4 teaspoon .
  8. Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  9. Crushed black pepper - 1/ 2 teaspoon
  10. :red_circle:For the Salad :red_circle:
  11. Chopped Tomatoes - 1/2 cup.
  12. Chopped Cucumber- 1/2 cup.
  13. Sliced Onions - 1/4 cup.
  14. Capsicum julienne- 2 tablespoons.
  15. Chopped parsley or coriander leaves - 2 tablespoon.
  16. Salt - 1/4 teaspoon.
  17. Paprika - 1/4 teaspoon.
  18. :red_circle:For the Falafel:red_circle:
  19. Chickpeas - 1 cup ( soaked in warm water for minimum 5 hours or overnight )
  20. Roasted Cumin powder- 1 tablespoon
  21. Chopped parsley or corainder leaves - 2 tablespoons.
  22. Green chilli paste -1 teaspoon.
  23. Salt - 1/4 teaspoon.
  24. Chopped garlic - 1 tablespoon
  25. Finely Chopped Onion - 1/2 cup
  26. Oil - 2 to 3 tablespoons.
  27. :red_circle:Pita breads :red_circle: - 8 in numbers.

Instructions

  1. :red_circle:To make the Tzatziki Sauce :red_circle:
  2. In a bowl add the Greek yoghurt or Hung curd along with grated cucumber, chopped dill, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper .
  3. Mix well and refrigerate until needed.
  4. :red_circle:To make the Salad:red_circle:
  5. In a bowl add chopped tomatoes, chopped cucumber, sliced onions, capsicum juliennes, chopped coriander, paprika powder and salt .
  6. Mix well with the help of a spoon and refrigerate until needed.
  7. :red_circle:To make the Falafel :red_circle:
  8. In a grinder mince the soaked chickpeas to form a very thick paste .
  9. Take the chickpeas paste into a large bowl and beat it for 2 to 3 minutes with the help of a whisk to make it a little fluffy.
  10. Now add salt, cumin powder, green chilli paste, chopped coriander, chopped onion and chopped garlic to the chickpeas paste
  11. On gasstove heat the nonstick appam pan .
  12. Put a tiny drop of oil into each cavity .
  13. Form round ball shapes out of the chickpeas mixture and drop into the appam cavities.
  14. Put the lid on and cook for 5 minutes or until turns golden brown.
  15. Flip each falafel and cook the other side as well.
  16. Repeat this procedure until all the chickpeas mixture is finished .
  17. :red_circle:Assembly :red_circle:
  18. Slightly toast the pita bread to turn a little golden brown .
  19. Cut the pita bread into 2 semicircles to get 2 pockets for filling
  20. Add Tzatziki Sauce and place the falafels into the Pita pockets.
  21. Top it with some prepared salad and serve immediately.
  22. You can serve the Falafel as starters too without the Pita breads , just top each falafel with some Tzatziki sauce and salad ...and plate them. See the image for reference .
