ABOUT Jain kadhi RECIPE

This is a no onion no garlic recipe which can be made on vrat days

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Curd 2 cups
  2. Water 2 cups
  3. Chickpea flour 2 tablespoon
  4. Salt as per you taste
  5. Ginger paste 1 teaspoon
  6. Green chilli paste 1 teaspoon
  7. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  8. Oil 2 tablespoon
  9. Curry leaves 20
  10. Dry red chilli 2
  11. Black pepper 4
  12. Cloves 4
  13. Asafetida a pinch
  14. Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  15. Cumin seeds 1/4 teaspoon
  16. Fenugreek seeds 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. In a bowl take curd
  2. Add water, chick pea flour, salt, turmeric powder, ginger paste and green chilli paste.
  3. Mix well with a whisk so that everything blends well without any lumps
  4. Take oil in a deep bottom pan
  5. When the oil becomes hot add mustard seeds first
  6. When mustard seeds crackle add cumin seeds.
  7. Now add fenugreek seeds, dry red chillies, black pepper, cloves, curry leaves and asafoetida
  8. Then bring the gas to slow flame and add curd.
  9. Now using a spoon continuously stir the mixture till a boil comes
  10. Let it cook on medium flame till the kadhi thickens.
  11. Serve hot with steamed rice
