ABOUT Green gram masala RECIPE

Tasty nd healthy gravy that goes well with chapathi, dosa, plain rice, bread. Or can be simply given as evening snack to kids. My mom use to prepare this and it was a great hit among my friends during my school days. Its an all time favourite of mine and my sister.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Green gram 250gm
  2. Chopped onions 3
  3. Boiled potatoes 2
  4. chopped tomatoes 2
  5. Ginger garlic paste 2 tspn
  6. Turmeric powder 1/2 tspn
  7. Chilli powder 4 tspn
  8. Coriander powder 3 tspn
  9. Garam masala 1 tspn
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Butter 2 tbspn
  12. oil
  13. Water

Instructions

  1. Soak green gram for 3 hours in hot water or overnight in cold water. Pressure cook on medium flame up to 2-3 whistles. You can pressure cook potatoes along with green gram.
  2. Heat a pan. Add oil as required to fry onions.
  3. Add chopped onions and ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell goes.
  4. Then add chopped tomatoes and saute for 2 mins.
  5. Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and fry a minute and immediately add some water to retain the colour.
  6. Allow to boil for 2 mins. Then add smashed potatoes, boiled green gram, salt and garam masala.
  7. Mix well and Add required water to get gravy consistency. Close with a lid and Cook for 5-7 mins so that all masala flavours are absorbed by the gram.
  8. Add butter and remove from flame.
