ABOUT Chapatti / Roti RECIPE

Soft chapattis made of whole Wheat flour. The staple food of the Indians.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Whole Wheat flour - 1½ cup
  2. Ghee - 1 tbsp
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Warm water as required for kneading the dough
  5. Ghee or oil for drizzling on chapattis

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl add the flour, salt and ghee. Mix and crumble nicely using your fingers.
  2. Add water little at a time and Knead the dough nicely for about 5-10 mins. Keep aside covered with a cloth for sometime.
  3. Knead the dough again and make medium size balls.
  4. Roll the balls into chapatti with the help of a rolling pin.
  5. Heat a tawa. When it is heated reduce the flame to medium and add the chapatti in the hot tawa. Let it cook till bubbles appear
  6. Flip over and cook for about 2 mins pressing it with a stapula or a kitchen towel so it is cooked evenly all over.
  7. Remove and spread some ghee/oil on it and serve hot.
