ABOUT Chinese rice porridge,Congee. RECIPE

A healthy chinese savory dish,usually served as breakfast. This dish is made with any meat or just veg.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice 1 cup
  2. Boneless chicken pieces 2 cups
  3. Water 7 cups
  4. Ginger 1 big piece,
  5. Spring onion 1/2 cup
  6. Salt
  7. White pepper 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Cook chicken in 3 cups of water,with some salt & 1/4 tsp of pepper. When cooked,remove chicken pieces & store the water.
  2. Cook rice in the same chicken stock ,along with 4 cups of plain water. Add salt & pepper. Cook well, on a low flame,as it s smashed a lot.
  3. Add spring onion,ginger,cut into julienne & cooked chicken pieces. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  4. Adjust salt,& if necessary, pepper.
  5. Serve hot.
