ABOUT Finger Fish Cutlets with a Cheesy Surprise RECIPE

This recipe is famous for parties and it is filled with the goodness of oat. I dedicate this recipe to my mother-in-law.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Bhitki or any fish with less bones 500g
  2. Whole garam masala 1 tsp(green cardamom 2,1 tez patta, cinnamon stick 1 inch)
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Potato boiled 1 big size
  5. Onion1 big
  6. Green chillies 2
  7. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  8. Lemon 1/2
  9. Chaat masala 1/2 tsp or as per taste
  10. Green cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
  11. Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  12. Chopped coriander leaves
  13. Ginger garlic paste 1/2 tsp
  14. Sugar 1/2 tsp
  15. Pepper powder a pinch
  16. Instant masala coriander oats 1 cup (1/2 for mixing with the mixture and 1/2 for outer crust)
  17. Amul chees cubes 4no.
  18. Bread crumbs 3/4 cup or as per taste
  19. Mixed herb 1 tsp
  20. Sesame seeds 1 tbsp
  21. Egg 1
  22. Oil for shallow frying 200ml

Instructions

  1. Take a small Kadai add in fish pieces and pour water so that the fish pieces gets submerged. Put whole garam masala. Boil the fish pieces in this water till pieces become white in color.
  2. Drain boiled water from the fish. Remove the skin, excess fat and fish bones.
  3. Add one boiled and mashed potato , salt, sugar, lemon juice, coriander leaves, green chilli chopped, red chilli powder, green cardamom powder, 1/2 of the instant oat powder, chaat masala, ginger garlic paste, jeera powder, dash of pepper powder, 1/2 tsp mix herb. Use hands to mix everything well.
  4. Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan. Fry chopped onions till they become soft. Cool and add them to the ready fish mixture.
  5. OUTER CRUST - Take 3/4 cup bread crumbs and add 1/4 tsp mixed herb, 1 tsp sesame seeds and half of the instant masala oat powder. Mix well.
  6. Crack one egg in a bowl and beat with a spoon.
  7. Take little ready fish mixture in your palm spread it with your finger and add a cheese cube in the centre. Shape mixture like a finger.
  8. Dip ready finger fish cutlet first in beaten egg then coat them with the ready crust mixture.
  9. Shallow fry cutlets till golden brown. Enjoy with a sauce or a chutney of your choice.
