Delicious spicy aromatic fish curry made with mixture of roasted and ground spices in peanut gravy

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Surmai fish 2 pieces
  2. Masala To be roasted and ground
  3. Black pepper 1 teaspoon
  4. Coriander powder 1 tablespoon
  5. Fennel 1 teaspoon
  6. Dried Red chilly 4-5
  7. Peanut 1/4 cup
  8. Onion 1 small, paste
  9. Ginger paste 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Garlic paste 1/2 teaspoon
  11. Desiccated coconut 2 tablespoon
  12. curd 1 tablespoon
  13. Turmeric powder 1/4teaspoon
  14. salt as per taste
  15. Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  16. Curry leaves 5-6
  17. Mustard oil
  18. Coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the Masala and grind to a coarse powder.
  2. Apply turmeric and salt to the fish and keep aside for half an hour.
  3. Take mustard oil and lightly Fry the fish from both sides.
  4. To the same pan add little oil if required, then add mustard seeds.
  5. Add onion paste, curry leaves, saute for few minutes.
  6. Add ginger, garlic paste, saute for 2 minutes.
  7. Add the dry Masala mixture, turmeric powder mix well, saute for a minute.
  8. Add curd and cook till oil starts to separate.
  9. Add desiccated coconut and cook.
  10. Sprinkle water to prevent it from drying up.
  11. When the Masala has cooked well add little water and the fish.
  12. Add salt and cook the fish.
  13. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with steam rice
