ABOUT HOW TO MAKE BHATURAS EASILY AT HOME RECIPE

Bhaturas are one of the popular Punjabi recipe served with Punjabi chole and onion salad. Bhaturas are thick fried Indian bread made with fermented dough. I took inspiration from my mother to cook these fluffy bhaturas.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Refined flour (Maida) - 2 cups
  2. Suji (Rawa) - 1/2 cup
  3. Yogurt (Dahi) - 1/2 cup
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Sugar-1/4 teaspoon
  6. Baking powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  7. Oil - for frying
  8. Luke warm water

Instructions

  1. Seive Maida,Suji, baking powder, salt in a large bowl. Add sugar, dahi and 2 tsp of oil. Mix well with the help of hands. Add luke warm water in intervals and knead soft dough.
  2. Cover dough with wet muslin cloth and keep dough aside in a warm place for 2-3 hours. It helps dough to rise up double in size.
  3. After 2-3 hours again knead dough to make it soft. Divide dough in equal number of balls. Let them rest for good 10 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed kadhai on a medium flame. To check the temperature of oil drop a piece of dough in oil. If it comes to the surface immediately then oil is sufficiently hot.
  5. Put some oil on your palm and take one ball on rolling board and flatten it with the help of palm & roll it like a poori or in oval shape with a rolling pin.
  6. Now fry rolled bhatura in oil. Press gently in the center with the help of spoon. When it gets light golden from both sides take it out of oil & drain excess oil with the help of tissue paper.
  7. Serve hot with its inseparable combination of punjabi chole & onion salad.
