ABOUT Lettuce Wraps RECIPE

Make the best use of aromatic basil, tangy lemon juice, spicy dry red chillies and zesty soya sauce with loads of sauted vegetables in these lettuce wraps. Antioxidant rich veggies add loads of health as well. This is 100 calories snack. Recipe adapted from Tarla Dalal.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. For The Stuffing : 2 tsp oil
  2. 2 tsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
  3. 1 tsp finely chopped ginger (adrak)
  4. 1/4 cup chopped spring onions (with the greens)
  5. 1/4 cup chopped mushrooms
  6. 1/4 cup finely chopped carrots
  7. 1/4 cup finely chopped cabbage
  8. 1/4 cup chopped bean sprouts
  9. 1/4 cup paneer
  10. 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice
  11. 1 tsp soy sauce
  12. 1/4 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
  13. Salt to taste
  14. 6 lettuce leaves
  15. 1 tbsp roasted and coarsely powdered peanuts
  16. 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh basil

Instructions

  1. For the stuffing Heat the oil in a non-stick kadhai,
  2. add the garlic, ginger and spring onions and saut on a medium flame till the onions turn translucent.
  3. Add the mushrooms, carrots and cabbage
  4. mix well and saut on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes
  5. Add the bean sprouts, paneer, lemon juice, soya sauce, salt and red chilli flakes and saut on a medium flame for another minute.
  6. Keep aside to cool.
  7. Divide the stuffing into 6 equal portions and keep aside.
  8. Wash the lettuce leaves, dry them on a towel and keep aside.
  9. Place a lettuce leaf on a clean, flat surface and place a portion of the stuffing along one side of the leaf.
  10. Add ½ tsp of peanuts and ½ tsp of basil over the stuffing,
  11. roll it up gently and secure the roll by inserting a toothpick or tie using a spring onion green.
  12. Likewise make 5 more wraps
  13. Serve immediately
