Black chickpeas and oats kebab for parties. You can call it veg shami kabab. Yummy and healthy snack for health watchers and kiddos. Fiber rich and good for diabetic too.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Kala chana or black chickpeas 1 cup
  2. Onion 3 chopped
  3. Garlic 3 - 4 cloves
  4. Ginger 1 inch piece chopped
  5. Green chilli 2 - 3
  6. Black pepper 5 - 6
  7. Green cardamom 3
  8. Cinnamon a small piece
  9. Cloves 3
  10. Oats 1 cup ground
  11. Coriander leaves handful chopped
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Cumin powder 1 teaspoon
  14. Garam masala powder 1/4 teaspoon
  15. Chaat masala powder 1 teaspoon
  16. Oil for shallow frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the Kala chana or black chickpeas overnight and boil in pressure cooker with 2 chopped onions, garlic, ginger, green chilli, black pepper, green cardamom, cinnamon and cloves.
  2. Drain or dried up the water of black chickpeas. Let it cool down and grind with all the spices in it.
  3. In a bowl mix it with ground oats, salt, chopped 1 onion, spices and chopped coriander leaves.
  4. Mix well with your hand. Make small round shaped kabab or patties.
  5. Shallow fry on medium hot oil till crisp and brown on both sides.
  6. Serve these hot veg kebabs with onion rings and chutney or sauce.
