ABOUT Usirikaya Perugu Pachadi/Gooseberry Yogurt Chutney RECIPE

Usirikaya means gooseberries/Amlas/Nellikaai and perugu means yogurt. This pachadi makes an excellent side dish to serve along with dosas,idlies and rotis.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 5 Gooseberries (chopped roughly)
  2. 2tbsp Toordal
  3. 3 dry red chillies
  4. 3tbsp Grated coconut
  5. Salt
  6. oil
  7. 1/4tsp Mustard seeds
  8. 1/2tsp Urad dam
  9. 2nos Dry red chillies (broken)
  10. few curry leaves
  11. 1cup Yogurt

Instructions

  1. Heat a teaspoon of oil, fry the dal and dry red chillies together until they turns brown.
  2. Transfer it to the blender, now add the chopped gooseberries to the same pan.
  3. Fry them for few minutes.
  4. Take the gooseberries,grated coconut,fried dal-red chillies to the blender and blend with salt.
  5. Sprinkle some water if needed until they turns as thick paste.
  6. Now add the yogurt to the thick paste, mix well.
  7. Heat enough oil, let splutters the mustard seeds,urad dal, curry leaves, add the tempered spices to the already prepared pachadi. Serve as side dish.
