ABOUT Veg Momos RECIPE

Momos is an Indian-Chinese street food which is very popular. I tried it by making a filling that is more healthy and the taste was awesome.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Maida 2 cups
  2. Water to knead the dough
  3. Oil 1 tsp
  4. Salt to taste
  5. For the filling-
  6. Cabbage 1 and 1/2 cup grated
  7. Onion 2 big size grated
  8. Capsicum 1 grated
  9. Moong 1 cup, grinded in mixer
  10. Soya chunks 1 cup, boiled and crushed
  11. Black pepper powder 2 pinches
  12. Green chillies 3 finely minced
  13. Garlic 5 cloves
  14. Ginger 1/2 finely minced
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Oil 2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour with oil ,water and salt to knead a soft dough. Cover it and keep it aside.
  2. For the filling, heat 1 tsp oil in a pan. Add in the grated onion, garlic, ginger and green chillies. Saute it for a minute.
  3. Now add in the capsicum, cabbage on a high flame and mix it well. Saute it for 5 minutes.
  4. Add in the black pepper powder, salt and again saute it well.
  5. Now add in the crushed moong and crushed soya chunks. Mix it well.
  6. Cover it for a minute and turn off the flame.
  7. From the dough, make lemon size balls and roll it with a little dry flour. Roll it not too thin or thick.
  8. Put 1 tbsp of filling in the middle of the circle, roll and bind it like a pouch and seal it from the top. Continue the process with other balls as well.
  9. Put a large container on the gas to boil with half filled water.
  10. Now grease the plate which has pores with oil. Once the water starts boiling, set all the pouch in the plate which has pores.
  11. Keep the the plate on boiling water container and cover it with another plate.
  12. Steam it for 15 minutes and turn off the flame.
  13. Serve it hot with schezwan chutney.
