ABOUT Chocolate Steamed Cakes In Idli Moulds RECIPE

Japanese steamed cake variation with cocoa and walnuts. Steaming them in Idli moulds is entirely an innovative idea of mine. These gorgeous and melt in mouth cakes are a bliss when served with tea or coffee. Since they are steamed in Idli moulds, these can very well be named as Chocolate Idlis. Thus a fusion recipe of two most lovable Cuisines, Indian and the Japanese. Happy Steaming

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. All purpose flour 1/2 cup
  2. Cocoa powder 1 tbsp
  3. Egg 1
  4. Baking Powder 1 Tsp
  5. Milk 3 tbsp
  6. Sugar 4 tbsp
  7. Walnuts chopped or powdered 2 tbsp ( I powdered them)
  8. Canola oil or any Cooking oil 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Whisk the egg with milk, oil and sugar.
  2. Add in the flour and the cocoa powder.
  3. Grease the idli moulds and steam them for 10 mins. Check them by inserting a skewer after 10 mins.
  4. Serve hot or warm with tea/coffee. Can also be served with dollops of your favourite Ice cream.
