ABOUT Navratri Specials - Carrot Halwa RECIPE

Grated carrots cooked in milk, khoya and sugar.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Carrots 1 kg
  2. Khoya 250 gms
  3. Milk 1 litre
  4. Sugar 200 gms
  5. Ghee 4 tbsp
  6. Chopped nuts and raisins 2 tbsp
  7. Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Boil milk in a large heavy bottomed kadai, till it thickens.
  2. Clean, wash and grate carrots, add to the boiling milk.
  3. Once the carrot is cooked, add sugar and let it simmer.
  4. Now add grated khoya and allow the mixture thicken.
  5. Fry dry fruits in hot ghee till golden brown and add half the quantity to the mixture.
  6. Once the half a thickens, add one tablespoon of ghee and stir continuously.
  7. Then allow it to cool and transfer to a serving bowl.
  8. Garnish with nuts.
