ABOUT Kheer without milk and sugar RECIPE

Vegan kheer without milk and sugar. In Tamil Nadu it is called saravana payasam.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Raw rice or broken rice 1 1/2 cups
  2. Jaggery 2 cups
  3. Cardamom pods 1 tsp
  4. Ghee 1 tbsp
  5. Banana 3
  6. Coconut pieces 4 or 5
  7. Salt - a pinch

Instructions

  1. Boil rice in 8 cups of water and allow it to cook on a low flame.
  2. Meanwhile, melt the jaggery in a little water and filter.
  3. Pour the jaggery water and cook till the rice softens.
  4. Turn off the stove and add the cut coconut pieces, sliced banana, cardamom powder and salt.
  5. After one minute, add ghee and close the lid.
  6. Serve hot.
