Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Crab 5
  2. Bay leaf 1
  3. Cinnamon 1 small stick
  4. Cardamom 4
  5. Fennel Seeds 1 tsp
  6. Onion 2 medium finely chopped
  7. Curry leaves 1 sprig
  8. Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
  9. Tomato 2 medium finely chopped
  10. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  11. Red chilly powder 2 tsp
  12. Coriander powder 2 tsp
  13. Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  14. Coconut oil 3 tsp
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Coriander leaves a handful chopped
  17. Water 1/2 cup
  18. For Grinding
  19. Coconut 1/2 cup
  20. Fennel Seeds 1 tsp
  21. Curry leaves 1 sprig
  22. Green chilly 2

Instructions

  1. Wash the Crab thoroughly in water and keep aside.
  2. Grind the coconut, curry leaves, fennel seeds, green chili to a smooth paste. Keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan.
  4. Add the whole spices - bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon and fennel seeds and let them sizzle.
  5. Add the curry leaves, onions and saute until they turn transparent.
  6. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes off.
  7. Add the chopped tomatoes, cover and cook till it turns mushy.
  8. Add the spice powders - turmeric, red chili, pepper, coriander powder and salt, mix well, cover with lid and let it cook till oil separates from the sides.
  9. Add the crab and mix well so that all the masala is well coated with the crab.
  10. Cover the pan and continue to cook till the crab changes its colour for around 5 mins.
  11. Add the grounded paste, mix well, add ½ cup water, cover the pan and cook for around 5-10 mins in medium heat.
  12. Increase the heat and cook till the masala thickens.
  13. Add chopped coriander leaves, give a quick stir and take off the heat.
