ABOUT Moong paratha (whole green gram) RECIPE

This paratha is highly nutritious , healthy and filling. **PREP TIME IS 8 HOURS BECAUSE WHOLE MOONG HAS TO BE SOCKED FOR AT LEAST 7 HOURS.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup whole green moong (green gram)
  2. 2 cups wheat flour
  3. Water as required
  4. Salt
  5. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  6. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  7. 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  8. 1/2 dry mango powder or chaat masala
  9. 4-5 tbsp oil or ghee

Instructions

  1. Soak green moong overnight or 7-8 hours
  2. Wash and boil green moong in a pressure cooker for 3 whistle with very less water (Moong should be dry after it is boiled and not too soft)
  3. Take wheat flour add salt as per taste and Knead the dough. Let it rest for 15 mins.
  4. Take the boiled moong in a bowl add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and dry mango powder or chaat masala. Mix well and keep it aside. (Mash a little gently)
  5. Take one portion of dough on a rolling pan and roll into small circle, now add spoon full of whole moong mix and seal the dough gently with your hands.
  6. Now roll the paratha. Don't be too hard while rolling as filling may come out.
  7. Once rolled, heat the girdle and roast the parathas applying some oil/ghee from both sides.
  8. Serve hot with yogurt, chutney or pickle.
