  13. Walnut 1/2 cup
  14. For syrup-

  16. Water 1/3 cup

Instructions

  1. In a bowl take warm water, sugar and instant yeast. Mix it well and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. After 10 minutes add flour, egg, salt and 2 teaspoons of melted butter. Mix well.
  3. Take it out on a clean surface and knead it for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Add 3 teaspoons of soft butter to the dough and keep kneading it until you get a soft, stretchy dough.
  5. Grease a bowl with soyabean oil and place the dough in it. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit in a warm place for 3 hours.
  6. For making the chocolate filling take butter and powdered sugar in a saucepan and mix it on medium heat until they're properly combined.
  7. Take it off the heat and add chopped dark to this. Keep mixing it until the chocolate melts.
  8. Spread the walnuts on a baking tray and roast it in the oven for 5-6 minutes on 150°c.
  9. Roughly chop the roasted walnuts.
  10. Punch the air out of the fermented dough and roll it out. Make a large rectangle with the dough.
  11. Spread the chocolate filling evenly on it.
  12. Spread the chopped walnuts on it.
  13. Start rolling it inwards from one side and make a tight roll.
  14. Cut the roll in half along the height.
  15. Pinch two heads of the roll together and twist them a few times over each other. Pinch the other end together.
  16. Grease a loaf tin with oil and place the dough in it. Cover the tin with plastic wrap and let it sit in a warm place for 1 and 1/2 hours or until it doubles in size.
  17. Bake this in a preheated oven on 180°c for 35-40 minutes.
  18. Take sugar and water in a saucepan and let the sugar melt on high heat. Boil it for 2 minutes and take it off the flame.
  19. Brush the sugar syrup on the hot babka.
  20. Let it cool and enjoy it with your little ones.
