ABOUT Tres leches con coco RECIPE

A three milk cake having a juicy texture and rich taste. The three milks used are - toned milk, condensed milk(dulce de leche) and milk based whipping cream. It's a Caribbean dessert sprinkled with some dessicated coconut. Dulce de leche is a confection prepared by slowly heating sweetened milk to create a substance that derives its flavor from the Maillard reaction, also changing color, with an appearance and flavor similar to caramel. Dulce de leche is Spanish for "candy [made] of milk" or "caramel". It is very popular in many South American countries.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Butter 100gm
  2. Castor sugar 100gm
  3. Milk 20ml
  4. Egg 2nos
  5. Flour 110gm
  6. Baking powder 5gm
  7. Vanilla extract 4gm
  8. Dulce de leche 45gm
  9. Whipped cream 30gm
  10. Dessicated coconut 10gm

Instructions

  1. To prepare Dulce de Leche, immerse condensed milk tin into the water in a big bowl  completely and place the bowl into the oven at 200C for 2-3hrs. 
  2. Remove the tin from the oven, allow it to cool and transfer it into a bowl. 
  3. Cream the butter add caster sugar and continue creaming till smooth and fluffy. 
  4. Break egg and add vanilla essence to it. 
  5. Sieve the flour and baking powder. 
  6. Add egg little by little to the butter and cream. 
  7.  Add flour and baking powder into the mixtures and mix it. 
  8. Once mixed add milk. 
  9. Grease the mould and place butter paper in the bottom and sides. 
  10. Pour the mixture into the mould. 
  11. Place it into the oven at 100C for 20-25mins
  12. Once baked and cooled, slice the bottom and top.
  13. Pipe the whipped cream on top and place the piece of cake on top of dulce de leche and finally sprinkle dessicated coconut.
  14. It's ready to be served.
