Moong dal fritters is also known as Moong dal bhajiyas is popular and tasty street food of Mumbai. These are fried fritters made from yellow moong lentils, crunchy and miled spicy

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Yellow Moong Dal 1 cup
  2. Salt as per taste
  3. 1/4 cup coriander
  4. 3-4 garlic cloves. If fresh garlic is available you may use that
  5. 2 green chillies
  6. 1/2 inch ginger
  7. A pinch of Asafoetida
  8. Oil for deep frying or shallow fry

Instructions

  1. Soak yellow moong dal for 3-4 hours
  2. Chop green chillies, coriander, ginger and fresh garlic
  3. Drain the water from moong dal and grind it coarsely without adding water to it
  4. Remove the batter in a bowl and add chopped green chillies, coriander,ginger, fresh garlic, salt and asafeotida and mix well
  5. Heat oil in a kadai or pan for deep frying
  6. Drop spoonful of batter in medium hot oil and fry till its golden brown
  7. Drain the moong dal fritters on a paper napkin to remove excess oil
  8. Serve the hot or warm moong dal fritters with coriander chutney, tamarind chutney or just plain tomato ketchup
