These cute little red velvet cake jars are filled with butter cream frosting and with beautiful eye pleasing red colour. Red velvet cakes are paired with cream cheese frosting usually but believe me this combination is also a hit. I mostly use butter in my bakes as it adds to the crumb.
For red velvet cake:
Take butter in a bowl and add sugar to it and beat well.
Sieve maida, cocoa powder and baking powder in another bowl for 2-3 times from height.
Gradually add sieved dry ingredients and milk in batches to the butter and sugar mix, beat well until properly mixed. Do not over beat the batter.
Add vanilla extract and red gel color.( first add only 1 tbspn of color and mix well remaining add according to the color of batter). (The amount of red gel color depends on how strong is cocoa powder and also the redness of color.) Mix or beat well till you get the deep red hue of batter.
Pre-heat oven at 180 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.
Pour in greased and dusted mould and bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 20-25 minutes or until tooth pick inserted comes out clean.
Transfer onto wire rack and let it cool.
For butter cream frosting Beat icing sugar and butter well until fluffy and then add vanilla extract.
Transfer into air tight container with cling wrapped and keep in fridge for 30 minutes or depending upon climate.
Take Dessert Jars wash and sterilize them and let it dry.
Cut the round shape from cake with cutter according to size of jar, slowly insert cake into it, add few drops of sugar syrup so that it doesn't become dry, and then pipe a star with butter cream frosting leaving side walls of jar. Add another piece of cake and slightly press it (we press cake so that it will level from sides and frosting will spread evenly.) Again add sugar syrup and repeat whole process. At last pipe a beautiful pattern on above and decorate with choice of sprinklers.
Keep in fridge to cool and enjoy Red velvet cake jar with butter cream frosting, and it's ideal for gifting also.
