ABOUT Rice Upma RECIPE

A quick and healthy recipe, ideal for working women. This is a south Indian breakfast delicacy which is very filling and keeps you going with full of energy.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Basmati rice 1 cup
  2. green chillies 3
  3. Mustard 1 tsp
  4. Urad dal 1/2 tsp
  5. Fenugreek 1/4 tsp
  6. Curry leaves 1 sprig
  7. Oil as required
  8. salt as per taste
  9. Grated coconut little

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak basmati rice for 10 minutes.
  2. Take a cooker. Heat oil and add mustard. When it splutters add urad dal, methi, green chillies and curry leaves and just fry.
  3. Add rice and mix well.
  4. Now add hot water just 2 inches above the rice level. Add salt. Adding hot water speeds up the process.
  5. Pressure till 2 whistles.
  6. Turn off the flame. Let the cooker cool down on its own.
  7. Once cooled add grated coconut. Mix well and serve with any pickle of your choice.
