My version of samosa inspired from Spanish Tostadas and Mexican tortillas. Before proceeding…I must tell u guys, these samosas were one of the yummiest, delicious, and most tempting and a must try snack. The fun part was when i shared these with my neighbours and some friends and told that it was a samosa …they were like what... samosa This is perfect snack for any day out or for a get-together with friends, and to have fun and become messy with food. This contains 5 elements Potato and pea filling, Chickpea with onions, Cabbage slaw / salad, Tamarind sauce, Tortillas / tostada/ rotis,

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For the Potato Pea Filling.
  2. Potatoes 1/2 kg
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Peas a handfull cooked
  5. cumin seeds 1 tbsp.
  6. green chilies 4
  7. Garam masala powder 1/2 tsp
  8. Turmeric Powder 1/2 Tsp.
  9. For Chickpeas with Onions
  10. Chickpeas a handfull soaked and cooked
  11. Onions 2 chopped
  12. pepper powder 1 tsp.
  13. oil 2 tsp.
  14. Lemon juice 2 tsp.
  15. lemon jest 1 lemon
  16. Tortillas fried

Instructions

  1. Potato pea filling –
  2. In a deep bottom pan add the potatoes to a boiling water
  3. Cook till the potatoes are cooked and remove from th heat.
  4. Mash the potatoes with the help of a fork and keep aside.
  5. In a pan add in oil and add jeera and green chilles
  6. Once it turns brown add in the mashed potatoes and cooked peas and stir well
  7. Now add in the spice powders- garam masal apwder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt to taste.
  8. Combine well and Cook for about 10 mins and keep aside.
  9. Chickpeas with Onions-
  10. Soak the chickpeas overnight and cook the chickpeas in the pressure coker
  11. Ina pan add in oil and add finely chopped onions
  12. Cook till onions are soft the add salt and pepper powder for seasoning and stir well
  13. Add in chopped tomatoes and cooked chickpeas
  14. stir for a while and keep aside.
  15. Cabbage slaw-
  16. Take some fresh cabbage and thinly chop the cabbages,
  17. Sprinkle some salt, pepper for the seasoning
  18. Add in lemon juice and its zest for the tangy flavor and stir well.
  19. For Tortillas
  20. in a bowl combine flour, salt, water and oil
  21. Divide into portions and roll out. i deep fried them to get it crispy.
  22. To Assemble them -
  23. place the crispy tortilla
  24. top with the potato pea filling
  25. then top with fresh cabbage slaw
  26. drizzle lemon zest and finally top it up with coriander leaves
