ABOUT Khatta Meetha Khaman Dhokla RECIPE

Khaman Dhokla is a popular gujarati dish made for every festival. Normally it is made with besan flour and taste is always little sweet and sour. I used strawberry syrup for khatta meetha flavour.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Besan 2 cups
  2. Water 1 & 1/2 cups
  3. Sugar 1 tsp
  4. Salt 1/2 tsp
  5. Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  6. Hershey's strawberry syrup 1/2 cup
  7. Eno 1 packet
  8. For tadka/tempering :-
  9. Hing 1/4 tsp
  10. Chopped green chillies- 2
  11. Curry leaves- 10
  12. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  13. Buttermilk 2 cups
  14. Hershey's strawberry syrup 1/2 cup
  15. Oil 2 tbsp
  16. Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  17. Sesame seeds 1 tsp
  18. Fresh coriander for garnish
  19. Pomegranate pearls 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl add besan, salt , sugar and mix well.
  2. Add water, lemon juice and syrup to make a batter.
  3. Keep aside for 5 minute, in the mean while keep a dhokla steamer with water on heat.
  4. Now add eno to the batter and mix well.
  5. Add the batter to a greased cake tin and steam for 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. When it is done remove from steamer.
  7. Now give cut marks to the dhokla keep aside.
  8. For tadka- add oil in kadai/pan and heat.
  9. Add mustard seeds and hing.
  10. Add green chilli, sesame seeds, chilli, curry patta and red chilli powder.
  11. Add butter milk in kadai.
  12. Add strawberry syrup and mix well.
  13. Keep on flame for 2 or 3 minute and then pour in dhokla tin.
  14. Leave for 5 minutes and mix lightly then serve on a plate.
  15. Sprinkle some coriander leaves and pomegranate pearls and serve.
  16. Add some syrup on dhokla.
