ABOUT Macher matha diye moong daal( yellow lentils with fish head) RECIPE

This is an old traditional bengali dish.the combination of moong daal and fish head really gives a delicious taste and flavour.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1fish head cut into 2pcs(deep fry)
  2. 1cup moong daal(boiled)
  3. 1-2bay leaves
  4. Whole garam masala 2pcs each
  5. 1tsp ginger paste
  6. 1tsp turmeric,red chilli,Cumin powder
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Sugar 1pinch
  9. Onion chopped( midiumsize)
  10. 1tsp ghee
  11. 1tsp roasted cumin powder

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add bay leaf,red chilli, cumin seeds and whole garam masala.
  2. Add chopped onions and fry it till golden.
  3. In a bowl, mix ginger paste and cumin, turmeric, red chilli powder with water.
  4. Mix it in the pan.stir it well.
  5. Add fish head and mix it with spices well.
  6. Add boiled moong daal.
  7. Add some water, salt ,sugarand cover the lid.let it boil for sometimes.
  8. Lastly add ghee and roasted cumin powder and serve it with hot steamed rice.
