In Goa dry cabbage bhaji is either made with onion or with channa dal. It is a simple yet tasty dish that serves as a good accompaniment to rice. It is without onion and garlic.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Shredded cabbage 2 cups
  2. Channa dal 1 cup
  3. Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  4. Hing 1/4tsp
  5. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  6. Grated fresh coconut 4 tbsp
  7. Jaggery 1 tbsp
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Oil 1 tbsp
  10. Green chillies 2 slit
  11. water 1/4 cup

Instructions

  1. Soak the channa dal overnight
  2. Pressure cook for three whistles
  3. Heat oil and temper with mustard seed, hing , green chillies and turmeric powder
  4. Add cabbage and water. Cover and cook till almost done
  5. Add boiled channa dal, coconut and jaggery. Cook for 5 min. Add salt to taste
