ABOUT Royal pea curry RECIPE

Royal pea curry is rich and creamy gravy which prepared with puffed lotus seeds and green peas in gravy of tomatoes and onions. For this recipe, you can fry the phool makhana in oil which enhance the taste . You can serve this gravy with indian breads like chapati,roti.for thick gravy, you can add khoya or cream which gives royal texture to this gravy.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 100gm green peas
  2. Oil+ghee-2tbsp
  3. 2 large onion (finely chopped)
  4. 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  5. 4 tomatoes
  6. Fresh cream-2tbsp(optional)
  7. 1/2 cup phool makhana
  8. 1/2 cup paneer (cubes)
  9. 1tbsp cashew nuts
  10. 1/2tsp red chilli powder
  11. 1/2tsp garam masala
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Green coriander leaves for garnishing
  14. Cardamom-1no.
  15. Green chilli-1no.
  16. Turmeric powder-1/8tsp
  17. Zeera powder-1/8tsp
  18. Kitchen king masala-1/2tsp
  19. Bay leaf-1no.
  20. Sugar-1/2tsp
  21. Water-as needed
  22. Kastoori methi-1/4tsp(crushed)
  23. Boiled milk -1/4cup
  24. Lemon juice-few drops (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a kadai .Roast the makhana for 3-4minutes and set aside .Boil water in a bowl and add the chopped paneer cubes .let it soak in hot water till use . This helps u get soft paneer pieces .
  2. Heat a ghee in a kadai . Roast the cashews for 3-4 minutes and keep it for cool and grind it .
  3. Chop onions,tomatoes and slit chilli . Keep aside
  4. Heat 1bsp oil + 1tsp ghee in a khadai and add cardamom. saute Ginger garlic paste till raw smell vanishes . Now add the green chilli and saute for a second. Add tomato pieces. Saute till mushy .let it cool. Grind this mixture to a smooth paste .
  5. Heat 1tbsp of oil and add bay leaf, cumin seeds when it splutter. Add this paste . Saute well till oil separates. Add red chilli powder, dhania powder, garam masala powder , grind cashew powder , cumin powder and kitchen king masala and add green peas and saute well .
  6. Add a cup of water and boil for few minutes . It splutters , be care ful.
  7. Lastly add the roasted makhana, paneer pieces, add milk , sugar, mix well and switch off the flame . Add crushed kastoori methi and fresh cream at the end. Remove and garnish with coriander leaves . Adjust the consistency of gravy by adding more milk or water as it thickens after cooling down .
  8. Serve and enjoy with roti , chapati
