ABOUT Chicken Aloo Shorba RECIPE

Chicken aloo shorba or curry originates from the northern part of india(delhi,UP,bihar).It consists of chicken cooked with potatoes in a stew like shorba gravy made with onion.Chicken can be replaced with mutton or lamb.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500g chicken
  2. 4 large Onion
  3. 5-6 medium potatoes
  4. 1 tsp haldi
  5. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  6. 2 tsp red chilli powder
  7. 1 tblsp ginger paste
  8. 1 tblsp Garlic Paste
  9. 1 tsp zeera powder
  10. 1 tsp garam masala powder
  11. 2 pc cardamom
  12. 2pc clove
  13. 1" cinnamon stick
  14. 5-7 whole black pepper
  15. Salt to taste
  16. 3 tblsp oil
  17. Coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Wash chicken and keep aside.
  2. Cut the potatoes into halves and shallow fry with a pinch of haldi
  3. Grind the onion into smooth paste.
  4. In a vessel heat oil.
  5. Add in the onion paste and whole spices.
  6. Now add in haldi,red chilli powder,coriander powder and salt.
  7. Add in the ginger paste and garlic paste.
  8. Cook for about 10 minutes on medium flame.Add little water if masala turns dry.
  9. Now add in the chicken and cook until oil separates.
  10. At this point add in the potatoes.
  11. Now add in the zeera powder and garam masala powder.Mix well.
  12. Cook for another 5-7minutes
  13. Now add enough water to make shorba like curry.
  14. Add salt if required.
  15. Bring the curry to boil.
  16. Lower the flame and cover with lid.Cook until chicken and potatoes become soft and tender.
  17. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  18. Serve hot with phulkas, or rice.
