ABOUT Maharashtrian rodge RECIPE

Maharashtrian Rodge is a special dish of maharashtra. In rajasthan, Up and Bihar it is known as Bati. However, method of preparation for Rodge is very different from the Bati. Its taste is very delicious.

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. 1 cup Wheat Flour
  2. 1/4 cup Semolina
  3. 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  4. 1/4 tsp carom seeds
  5. 3 tbsp oil
  6. Salt to taste
  7. water as required (approx 1/2 cup)

Instructions

  1. take all the dry ingrediants in a bowl and mix well
  2. add 2 tbsp oil and rub the mixture with hand
  3. make a dough using water and keep aside for 30 minutes
  4. after 30 minutes divide the dough in 2 equal portions
  5. preheat the oven at 200c for 10 minutes
  6. now for making rodga:
  7. take one portion of the dough and divide it into 5 unequal portions
  8. roll them to make thick flat chapati
  9. arrange them as shown in the picture (bigger portion at the bottom followed by smaller)
  10. apply oil between each layer
  11. gather all the ends together and close the top to make round shape
  12. prepare one more rodga from the remaining dough in same way
  13. bake it in oven first for 15 minutes
  14. after 15 minutes, turn over them and bake again for 15 more minutes
  15. remove from oven and serve rodge with dal
