ABOUT Aloo Pitika RECIPE

Aloo Pitika is a signature dish of Assam. It is from the Assamese cuisine. This is a soulful and comfort food of the Assamese and a must dish in a Thali. It is a chutney prepared with mashed potato. The potatoes are boiled and mash and mixed with onion ,green chilly, chopped coriander leaves with drizzle of raw mustard oil. The flavour from the mustard oil in the pitika is out of world and amazing. Aloo pitika is a very simple, easy and quick recipe prepared with very minimal ingredients and in less then 15 mins.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 3 potato
  2. 3 Green Chilly ( Add as per your taste)
  3. 2 onion chopped
  4. Coriander leaves few chopped
  5. 2-3 tbsp mustard oil
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Water as required to cook the potato

Instructions

  1. Peel the potatoes, roughly chop them and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or you can normally cook them in a pot.
  2. Take out the potatoes and mash them smoothly and add them in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add the chopped onions, green chillies, coriander leaves and mustard oil. Season with salt .
  4. Mix well all the ingredients well and serve it with meal.
