A very easy jackfruit dish

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Katthal / jackfruit - 1/2 kg chopped in small pieces
  2. 300 gm Chopped onion
  3. 250 gm chopped tomatoes
  4. Salt
  5. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  6. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  7. Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  8. Garam masala powder - 1.5 tsp
  9. Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  10. Refined oil
  11. Cumin seed - 1/2 tsp
  12. Tomato puree - 3 tbsp

Instructions

  1. In a pan add 4 tbsp oil. When the oil heats up add the jackfruit pieces and cover the pan.
  2. Fry it properly. The jackfruit would get 75% cooked while frying
  3. Remove it from pan. If required add little more oil in the same pan
  4. Add cumin seed, chopped onion and fry it onion starts turning golden
  5. Now add chopped tomatoes, salt, turmeric powder and stir a little
  6. Now add the tomato puree, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder and red chilli powder.
  7. In simmer saute the mixture for 3 minutes
  8. Now add the jackfruit and mix and cover the pan for few minutes
  9. After 4 to 5 minutes remove the cover and stir again
  10. Remove from flame
  11. Serve hot
