Popular Indian dessert, soft and melt in mouth dumplings dumped in hot sugar syrup.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. For Sugar Syrup:
  2. Sugar - 6 cups
  3. Water - 3 Cups
  4. Cardamom powder - 4 pods
  5. Saffron strands - 6
  6. Lemon juice - 1 tsp
  7. Rose water - 1 tsp
  8. For Gulab Jamuns:
  9. Khoya - 250 Gms
  10. Maida - 3 tbsp
  11. Baking powder - 1/3 tsp
  12. Milk - 1 tbsp
  13. Ghee / refined oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Make sugar syrup by adding ingredients for sugar syrup. Bring a good boil, add lemon juice to avoid crystallisation.
  2. Meanwhile mix gulab jamun balls ingredients, knead it well. Make lemon sized khoya balls make sure there are no cracks. Heat oil in a wok to a moderate temperature, fry the khoya balls till golden brown, take them out on paper towel.
  3. Transfer the gulab jamun balls in the hot syrup and keep them dipped in sugar syrup for half an hour.
  4. Enjoy your hot and melt in the mouth gulab jamuns!
