ABOUT Yoghurt Oats-Spinach Jar RECIPE

This very easy to compile dish is an ideal breakfast dish as it’s attractive appearance will entice children and those picky adults and is a good way to feed them with the choicest vegetables both favourites and not so favourites. It’s versatility makes it easy for anyone to put together with whatever is available in the kitchen.

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. Oats. 1/3 cup
  2. Water to cook oats. 1 cup
  3. Salt. to taste
  4. Sugar. 1 teaspoon
  5. Baby spinach. 1/3 cup
  6. (washed and wiped dry)
  7. Grated carrot. 1/3 cup
  8. Boiled potato cubes. 1/4 cup
  9. Boiled corn. 1/3 cup
  10. Sliced cucumber. 1/3 cup
  11. Baby or vine tomato. 1
  12. Youghurt. 3/4 cup to 1 cup
  13. Roadted mixed nuts. 2 tablespoons
  14. Dried cranberries. 1 tablespoon
  15. Toasted cumin seeds. 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a saucepan
  2. Add oats stirring simultaneously
  3. Cook till it comes together
  4. Remove and keep aside to cool.
  5. Drain water if any from the yoghurt
  6. Blend the yoghurt with a teaspoon of sugar
  7. Mix half the yoghurt with the cold oats
  8. Take a clean and dry jar
  9. Place half of the oats at the bottom
  10. Arrange the spinach on top of the oats layer.
  11. Press firmly, layer with grated carrots and corn.
  12. Spoon the remaining yoghurt on top
  13. Place the cucumber slices and the boiled potato
  14. Now, layer with the remaining cooked oats
  15. Repeat the layers if necessary.
  16. Place the baby/vine tomato on the very top
  17. Sprinkle the nuts, cranberries and toasted cumin around the tomato
  18. Serve cold or at room temperature
