Traditional Bengali recipe but I have made it in my style very easy yummy and quick to make

Ingredients Serving: 4
For the marination-
Rohu Fish 800 gram
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
For the gravy paste-
Onion 1 big cut into four parts
Ginger 1/2.inch
Garlic 7-8 nos
Tomato -3 nos.
Green chillies 2 nos.
Chilled curd-1/2 cup
For Seasoning whole spices-
Small mustard 1teaspoon
Onion seeds -1/4 teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds/methi daana -1/4 teaspoon
Bay leaf 1no.
Cinnamon stick-1/2 inch
Dry spices powder -
turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
Kashmiri laal mirch 1 teaspoon
Cumin/jeera powder 1/2 teaspoon
Cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon
Fennel powder 1/4 teaspoon
Garam Masala Powder 1/2teaspoon
Salt to taste
Oil for making gravy 4 tablespoons
Other ingredients-
Oil for frying Fish
Handful of Coriander leaves chopped
Dry Fenugreek leaves/kasuri methinks 1 tablespoon
Instructions
Rinse Rohu fish pieces 2-3 times with under running tap water then pat dry them with a clean and dry cloth.
Marinate fish for 10 minutes by adding turmeric and salt.
Make a paste by adding all the ingredients like onion,tomato,ginger,garlic,green chilli,chilled curd in a mixer jar.
Heat oil in a nonstick kadai.
Shallow fry marinated fish pieces to golden brown.
From the same kadai take 4 tablespoon of hot oil in another pan .
add in all the whole spices in medium flame and sautey until nice aroma starts coming.
add in all the dry spices powder mix with a little amount of water so that spices do not get burn in hot oil. 8.sautey for a while when oil starts separating from spices add in gravy paste.
fry gravy paste on high to low flame inbetween stir with a spatula.
when oil starts separating from the masala add in shallow fried fish pieces.
pour some water according to your taste or thickness of the gravy.
add salt to taste
allow it to boil rolling hot for 2-3 minutes then add kasuri methi and handful of chopped coriander leaves switch of flame
serve hot with white Rice ,Chapati ,kulcha or Naan
