ABOUT Mutton Haleem RECIPE

A dish having the protein of lentils, Dalia and meat cooked on slow fire

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 500 Boneless Mutton cubed
  2. 1/2 cup yoghurt
  3. 1 Tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  4. Salt to season
  5. 1 Tbsp chopped fresh mint leaves
  6. 2 Tbsp ghee
  7. 1/2 cup Dalia soaked in water
  8. 1 Tbsp Chana Dal soaked
  9. 1 Tbsp Split Black Gram Dal soaked
  10. 1 Tbsp Split Green Gram Dal soaked
  11. 1 tsp caraway seeds
  12. 12-14 Black peppercorns
  13. 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  14. 1 tsp Green Chilli paste
  15. Salt to season
  16. 1/4 cup Onions to be chopped and fried beforehand
  17. 2.5 cups Mutton stock
  18. 2 Tbsp Ghee
  19. 1/4 cup milk
  20. 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder

Instructions

  1. In a bowl add the Mutton pieces and yoghurt, chopped mint leaves and salt. Mix well. Set aside
  2. In a Pressure cooker add 2 Tbsp ghee, add Dalia, Chana Dal, Split Black Gram Dal, Split Green Gram Dal and mix well
  3. Drop in marinated Mutton, Stir
  4. Add caraway seeds
  5. Add black peppercorns
  6. Add Garam Masala powder
  7. Add green chilli paste and salt to season
  8. Add half of 1/4 cup fried onions and 2.5 cups Mutton stock. Stir well
  9. Close the Pressure cooker lid for 7-8 whistles. Turn off the gas
  10. Open the lid and stir well. Take out the Mutton pieces.
  11. Blend the mixture well. Re add the Mutton pieces
  12. Add 2 Tbsp of ghee and 1/4 cup milk and stir well
  13. Cook for 5-10 mins and add 1 tsp Garam Masala powder and stir well
  14. Pour on a bowl.
  15. Garnish with 1 Tbsp Chilli oil, rest of the fried onions and a mint leaf
